Recorded on the Russian River, West Coast USA, as it spilled its banks for the largest flood the region had seen in a quarter century. Lap steel and synthesizer slide horizontally into the wetlands, as if flotsam carried by the swollen river. Foregoing the conversational model of improvisation, fluid movements of crying steel and flickering voltage emerge only to be subsumed by the other two members of the quartet: silence and rain. For fans of lichen, of fungi, of rotting logs, of the freshly wet forest breathing in the rain.
